Glossary

Plain-language definitions of the terms you'll see in Elevate.

A quick reference for the words that come up in Elevate.

Observation

A timed classroom visit with its live transcript, timestamped notes, and quick tags. Audio is transcribed live and is not saved as a recording.

Transcript

The text version of the spoken lesson, produced in real time as you record.

Note

A timestamped comment you add during an observation, in your own words.

Quick tag

A one-tap timestamped note for a common observation, such as "High Engagement." See the Quick tag reference.

Audio check

The optional 10-second test offered before an observation that checks whether your microphone and transcription are working. See Before you start an observation.

Scrubbing

Elevate's automatic use of AI to detect and replace student names when a report is generated. Evaluators should review the final report for any remaining names before finalizing it and avoid typing student names into Report Builder edits, which are not scrubbed again. See Student name scrubbing explained.

Framework

The research-based teaching rubric Elevate aligns to, configured for your district during onboarding. See Your evaluation rubric framework.

Report Builder

The screen where you turn Elevate's suggestions into a finished report. See Using the Report Builder.

Teacher

A person who is observed. Teachers are records, not users — they don't log in. See Managing your teacher roster.

Role

What a user can see and do in Elevate. See Understanding roles and permissions.
